Learn something new
Metal Embossing Workshop

My workshops are suitable for beginners or those wishing to extend their skills. They include techniques such as embroidery; Hardanger, French knots, chain stitch, couching, canvaswork, crochet, stumpwork and cross stitch, with mixed media techniques including bead and button making, using Angelina fibres, Tyvek© and Lutradur©. Metal embossing, transfer printing and dyeing are also included, as well as many other techniques.

If you don't see the technique you are interested in featured in the current programme, contact us to arrange a date.

Machine embroidery classes are also available.  These are taught on a one-to-one basis at £15 per hour and can be arranged at times to suit you.  Contact us for more information.

A little of what you fancy!
Why not book in some studio time to play around with different techniques?  Not so much a workshop, more a textile art workout! Or why not join us once a month on a Thursday evening? We hold monthly workout clubs from 7 until 9.30 pm where we experiment with all sorts of techniques, so come along and play.  Booking essential.  Contact us for details.

Courses
Our courses represent excellent value for money.  All materials are included, although you may need to bring some extra equipment, such as aprons and containers to take your creations home in.  With some courses, you may need to bring your sewing machine.  Full information will be given at time of booking, but if you have any queries, please contact us.

We are privileged to have City & Guilds Tutor LIz Neave with us to show us how to construct a book cover using hand stitching techniques. (Click on image for a larger picture)

This is a four hour workshop, with a break for lunch.

Bead Jewellery Workshop
Learn to make a beautiful necklace with matching earrings using simple bead stringing techniques.

Wet Felting
Wet Felting
Learn the basics of wet felting, incorporating various fibres with wool to create background fabric which an be used for other projects.

Hardanger Sampler £100 for 3 sessions
Hardanger

Learn the basic stitches. Then begin work on a sampler. This project is suitable for beginners, or those who have tried Hardanger before and wish to extend their skills.

Silk Paper
Silk Paper
We will use silk with other fibres and mixed media to make wonderful textured surfaces which can be used for stitching, vessels and even jewellery.

Using Ten Seconds Studio products to create metal decoration on aluminium metal sheets. Learn the basic techniques, and begin work on a book cover.

Cup Cozie
Cup Holders Utilising bonding and hand embroidery techniques, we will make a cup holder so you don't burn your hands on your cappuccino or latté!

Microwave Dyeing
Microwave Dyeing
Dyeing on silk fabric and threads using the microwave and two types of dye to create beautiful backgrounds for embroidery or textile work. We will be experimenting with cotton too.

Tapestry Weaving
Tapestry Weaving

Using a simple frame, learn the basic techniques of this centuries old craft which can be used in its own right as an art form, as a background to textile art and stitch and to make bags, scarves etc.  With Joan Young.

Learn basic wire working techniques with beads for making unique jewellery items.

Mixed Media Book Cover
Book Covers
Join us on my new book cover workshop. Working with fabric, mixed media and buttons, using the sewing machine to embellish and make wrapped cords, we will spend three hours making and constructing the book cover.

Button Necklace
Using a selection of our buttons, make a button necklace in a colour of your choice.

Extend your skills, learning more embossing techniques, make the second part of your book and find out how to colour metal using paint, alchohol ink etc.

Children’s Workshops
Fabric Painting - Ellen's Bag

Workshops for children aged from 3 to 12 are held once a month on a Saturday from 11 am to 12 pm or by arrangement. Parents/Guardians must stay with their child.  Booking essential. 

Additional activities are often held during school holidays. 

 

 

Workshop Fee

Cross Stitch - learn basic embroidery stitches by sitching a variety of patterns

£10 per child

Metal Embossing - make a card using easy techniques

£10 per child
Fabric Painting - paint a bag, apron or even a pencil case using your imagination and fabric pens. £10 per child
