April 2009
Welcome to the spring issue of the Craft Arena newsletter. It’s great to have been be able to wake up to sunshine the last few days – let’s hope the good weather continues. Having said that, it will probably snow next week!
In this edition we will let you know about the Textile Art exhibition we are hosting for the Impetus Group, update you on our workshop programme and tell you about new products available in the studio.
Impetus Exhibition
Impetus is a local textile group, based in Chelmsford, who use a variety of skills and creative techniques in their work, including fabric, stitch and mixed media. This is their second exhibition at Craft Arena and consists of a piece of work from each of their six members. The exhibition runs until May 2nd during our normal opening hours, with a special evening opening on Friday 17th April from 6pm to 9 pm to coincide with the launching of an art and sculpture exhibition which is opening at Barleylands on that day.
Workshops
There are just a few places left on our workshop with Sarah Lawrence on Saturday 23rd May. Sarah will show us how to use silk fibres to construct backgrounds for stitch, jewellery, 3D objects etc. We will also be using her wonderful Creative Sprays, stamps and lots of other goodies. The cost of the workshop is £70 for the day. Don’t miss out on this special event. If you would like to attend, give me a ring on 01268 523780 or email enquiries@craftarena.co.uk.
I have the opportunity to arrange a Goldwork Embroidery Masterclass later in the year, tutored by a Royal School of Needlework trained embroiderer. If anyone would like to express an interest in attending, please let me know.
For full details of our workshops, visit www.craftarena.co.uk/workshops.html or ask for a copy of our programme to be posted to you.
