Soldered Book Covers with Alex Waylett

Thursday, 27 October 2016 -
10:30am to 4:00pm

We are delighted to have Alex back at Craft Arena for a series of workshops with more coming in 2017. On this workshop you will be using machine embroidery to create your book covers and using a craft soldering iron to distress them before adding more stitch. You can either bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours (please let us know if you would like to borrow one). If you bring your own you will need an embroidery foot, extra bobbins and an extension table if you have one. If you will be bringing your own soldering iron, please let us know that too.

Please be aware that if you have asthma, or other breathing issues, fumes caused by heat distressing may aggravate it.

Machine Embroidery Skill Sharing

Sunday, 2 October 2016 -
10:30am to 1:00pm

A new series of informal monthly sessions to help you get the most from your embroidery machine. A different machine embroidery technique will be covered each month and this time we will be discussing the best ways to line up and execute designs including borders.

Powertex With Jayne Laouami-Baigent

Saturday, 5 November 2016 -
10:30am to 4:00pm

You will find out how to use this unique medium to create beautiful sculptural mixed media art. Using fabric, inclusions, paint and Powertex, beginners will put together a stunning 3d canvas panel and those with more experience will make various projects appropriate to their skill level. This class is suitable for beginners and those wishing to extend their skills.
Although Jayne is not an accredited Powertex trainer, she enjoys using and exploring the possibilities of this versatile medium, incorporating different products and her own painting techniques to expand and extend its potential.
